The Upper East

The Upper East is considered one of Santa Barbara’s most prestigious neighborhoods.  The “Upper East” is defined by its location east of State Street, above the downtown corridor and bordered by Micheltorena Street, and the lower Riviera.

Many buyers wish to be within walking distance of the downtown corridor and all it has to offer (restaurants, museums, shopping), but in more of a homogeneous neighborhood, with custom character homes and larger lots. The Upper East provides such possibilities, and includes many architecturally significant properties.  Ocean and mountain views are enjoyed from many properties.

If school district is a concern, the newer Roosevelt Elementary School campus is located just 2 blocks from the Mission  and is a highly-sought elementary school for all the right reasons.    This school, and the Santa Barbara community at large,  use the Mission Rose Garden and lawn area for physical activities, and this is a very popular site for picnics, sports and socializing (especially for dog owners!)
